A Touching Story

I sat down to eat dinner tonight feeling frazzled and not in the greatest of moods. While I was eating I decided to page through my new People magazine and I came upon this story of a single father who is rasing his 9 month old daughter alone after having lost his wife just a day after she gave birth to their beautiful baby girl. My heart immediately ached for this man. What a brave soul to find the strength to keep going after experiencing something so devastating. I read in this article that this man had created a blog before his daughter was born to document special events in the couple's life together as they prepared to start their family. He continued to blog after his wife's death to honor his wife, celebrate his daughter and to simply have a means to help him get through the toughest time in his life. I have only read a few entries of his blog and am so deeply touched by this father and his dedication to his daughter and to keeping the memory of his wife alive. His entries are so real, that with every read, you want to keep reading. This story has put things into perspective for me tonight and all of a sudden, my problems don't seem like such a big deal. This man lost his wife - the love of his life - the mother of his first-born child. I have already forgotten about my worries/problems of the day, but for him it's not so simple. I want to thank this man for teaching me to remember what's important in life. And I want him to know that I am praying for him to find some peace in his heart and soul today, tomorrow and the days ahead.
